Confidentiality of Appraisal Information (USPAP)

As appraisers, we follow the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), 2024 Edition, effective January 1, 2024, published by The Appraisal Foundation. Its Ethics Rule requires an appraiser to "protect the confidential nature of the appraiser-client relationship."

In practice, this means:

• Confidential information you provide to us for an appraisal, and the results of the assignment, are not disclosed to anyone other than the client, parties the client specifically authorizes, state appraiser regulatory agencies, third parties as authorized by due process of law, or a duly authorized professional peer review committee (unless disclosure to that committee would violate applicable law or regulation).
• We act in good faith with regard to the client's legitimate interests in how confidential information is used and how assignment results are communicated.
• We comply with the confidentiality and privacy laws and regulations that apply to each assignment.
• We take reasonable steps to safeguard confidential information and assignment results from unauthorized access, whether they are on paper or in electronic form, and make sure anyone who may have access is aware that they must not disclose them.

Under USPAP, "confidential information" means information the client identifies as confidential when providing it to the appraiser and that is not available from any other source, or information classified as confidential or private by applicable law or regulation.
